The tuna fishing vessel has a crew of 16, during the day the cooking is the responsability of each member.
From the port of Fuenterabia, the vessel IZARZURI fishes in the Golf of Gascogne. The tuna fish are caught with rods made of fibre or bamboo rods over 5 to 6 meters long. Water is sprayed on the surface of the sea in order to imitate the movement of small fish, which the tuna surface to catch. Bait is thrown to into the spray to attract the tuna. This method of fishing allows a certain amount of tuna to escape, thus not overkilling the shoals of tuna.

Andalousia. Village of Zahara de los Atunes, near Cape Trafalgar. Tuna fishing with the “madrague”, a vast net with various chambers, used to catch tunas on their way from the Atlantic Ocean into the warmer Mediterranean. Once the shoal of fish has been sighted, fishermen pull up the nets around the so-called “chamber of death”.
